A Message From the Campaign
This is from the Obama campaign. They asked that we put it up. Please help them out and get involved!
Team:
My name’s Phil Carter; I’m an Iraq vet now serving as the Obama campaign’s veterans director. We are recruiting a group of Iraq / Afghanistan veterans to advise the campaign and participate in events around the country. You all have already expressed your support for Barack Obama by joining this listserv, and many of you are already engaged around the country as field staff, volunteers and leaders within your community. If you’d like to join this national group, please send me your resume and a short email about the issues that matter most to you, at pcarter@barackobama.com. We’re putting this together in the next 7-10 days, so please respond quickly.
Thanks — and stay fired up!!!
-Phil

My name is Sean Flaherty, ACCS(AW/SW), USN ret. I am a Veteran and I refuse to vote for Obama because a vote for Obama will be the equivilent of the United States stomping on the graves of my friends who have died in Iraq. To leave without fully accomplishing what we set out to do, enabling Iraq to govern on their own in a stable environment, would mean my friends died in vain.

I don’t suppose I qualify for this group since I served in the Air Force from1956 to 1959 but I’d love to help in South Carolina if I can.
Do you honestly believe that the reason we went into Iraq was to enable Iraq to govern on their own in a stable environment? George W. Bush and Dick Cheney had several reasons for going to Iraq, providing a stable environment for a new democratic style government unfortunately was not at the head of the list. John McCain is in lock-step with the Bush Whitehouse in its promotion of a failed foreign policy. That, to me, is reason enough to vote for Barack Obama. The fact that Sen. Obama has the ability to see the “big picture” where the current administration and apparently the McCain camp have a very narrow focus, dealing with each event as it takes place rather than coming up with critical solutions on a regional or worldwide basis, is reason enough to vote for Barack Obama. The reality is that no one will be stomping on the graves of veterans. We have fought unjust wars in the past and departed without realizing a successful outcome. Regardless of the decisions made by politicians and command staff removed from the day to day conflict, we did our duty with honor. Duty and Honor! No one will change that!
