I Am a Veteran and I Support Barack Obama For President
I support Barack Obama because I want this misbegotten war to end.
I am a Navy vet. I enlisted in Sep ‘66, reported in Jan ‘67 and was released in Nov ‘69, after 3 years and 10 months due to force reduction. I went in supporting the Vietnam War - that’s why I enlisted. But by the time I was half way through my enlistment I came to oppose the war and became active, as a service member, in the anti-Vietnam War movement. When Oct 2002 got here, I could see the same attitudes at the top that I had seen close to 40 years earlier, and I was afraid we would go to war for the same kind of spurious reasons as we did in South East Asia. We did, and I’ve opposed this war since before it began.
Sen. McCain has stories to tell - don’t we all! But his service doesn’t mean that he is right on what to do about this war. And the fact that Sen. Barack Obama has not been in the military service does not mean that he can’t make the right decisions about war and peace. Indeed, I think he takes far better, far better, positions on these issues, especially on Iraq, than the Republican opposition nearly across the board. Being president means getting the best possible advice from others, experts, and then making decisions that are right, or best, for American, and often world, interests.
Beyond questions of war, being CIC, etc., I am also convinced that Obama is way ahead of McCain on domestic issues, like the economy, national and local infrastructure, leadership skills and potential, foreign policy and how to do it. I am a white American, and it is high time that we support and elect an American such as Senator Obama to be our President. He is the best person for the job.
I am certain that Barack Obama will make an excellent President, as I am certain that John McCain would NOT be a good president. I buy and give away VETERANS FOR OBAMA buttons - I gave away 5 on Saturday to other vets, from other towns, who support Obama. I will continue to do so.

I am a Navy Vet and I served from 1975 to 1982. I am also an Army Vet and retired as a Captain in the NY Army National Guard two weeks before 911. I have seen many things while in the service. Some good and some not so good. I consider myself a good listener, so when I say I pay close attentioin to what John McCain is saying about his resolution to this war, believe me when I tell you it’s not good.
At first, I was a Hillary Clinton supporter, but now I am supporting Barack Obama. Why? Because I listened to everything he had to say about this War, and I agree. I come from a heritage of a family who has deep roots in the military. We always follow our orders to the letter from our Commander in Chief. I know that this is leaving a bad taste in the soldiers mouths who are serving in Iraq. It is time for a new Commander in Chief and he is Barack Obama. I will continue to support Barack Obama for President and I will encourage others to do so. It is time to bring those troops home with honor.

Not the answer or support you are looking for; however, the REASON that “WE” in the military chose or choose to wear the uniform is to allow people in a free society the liberty and opportunity to say and do what they desire so long as it is legal. This can be something as simple as expressing one’s opinion(s) publicly despite who may be unjustly slandered or attacked; to conducting a business venture that winds up taking advantage of someone. Hope we can agree that these two brief examples are quite common in our “peerless” American society.
Uniquely, WE in uniform have taken a vow to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America (yes ALL of the Constitution), against ALL enemies–foreign and domestic. This decision and commitment, that may require the ultimate price, are sacred to the Military servant as these obligations are taken and accepted freely–this is what truly sets a Military servant apart from others that call themselves servants.
So please never forget that those wearing the uniform are presently allowing YOU to keep listening and allowing YOU to keep expressing yourself–it’s your right–please enjoy it.
All WE ask is that you not speak negatively of those in uniform and demean the sacrifice that they make on daily basis to give you the rights you appear to be enjoying. And all I ask is that you ensure to LISTEN cautiously.
I leave you with a profound paraphased view from the late Dr Martin Luther King; “Until a Man finds something worth dying for; he has yet earned the right to live.”

I also am Democrate and a Navy vet; but I’m not a turn coat vet!
McCains VP has more managerial experience then any of Dems. (BHO & B)
Listen to the lies from BHO & B. B says he has 30 yrs exp and has a net worth of $150,000. Being in the congress for that long and only having a net worth of 150k and having your hand in the cookie jar that far for that long he is either dumb or stupid or both and don’t think he is honest.
BHO was telling how much his mother was struggling when he was a long boy and during that time he is probably correst. After all we had the peanut farmer as president. We also had 18 to 20% home mortages; we had double digit inflation rates; unemployment was >12%.
Maybe everyone should get their fortune like Jon - marry it. John has never made a payroll or ever been on one. He is the 3rd generation at the public trough.
